Ok, I haven’t posted for a while. Bad me, bad. (insert wet noodle lashes here)
Some know, some don’t, that I have returned to IRC. It’s funny how the old addictions never go away. I feel like I’ve fallen off the wagon… it didn’t take long to become immersed again.
In ways, it’s been good. No more “I’m scared” posts. No more “omg what would I do without you people?” posts. I’ve found new ways to occupy my time, new people to talk to.
Am I still lonely? of course. Am I pathetic at times? You bet. But at any given hour of any day, I can find people more lonely, more pathetic, and certainly more dumb and more desperate than me, LOL… seems silly to put it that way
I dropped into PVP today, after days and days of urging by a few people. I lasted less than 10 minutes. It made me so sad and so sick. I can’t believe we have let our entire community crumble because of a fucking free site. I am so angry about it.
Oh wait, what’s to be angry about? Somebody posted an actual poker topic. That should be enough. Well lemme tell ya, I don’t think it’s good enough for 90% of the members there. The other 10%, the mostly vocal 10%, thrive on the drama - they don’t care about poker, they care about the rush that comes from reading and/or posting about their lives as they are involved in the poker community. It’s a huge difference.
With Windows XP, Microsoft put in “restore points”. Click the link, and voila! Your computer is restored to a previous time. There are times I wish life was like that. To be able to say “whoops, this didn’t work out, let’s try that again” would be a huge bonus.

You are a lot of things, my dearest Kat, but “pathetic” is NOT one of them.
As for the urging, I’m guessing that was by staff so that you could help them with this current “issue.” Obviously it only made things worse, but I wanted to be clear that my requests that you return were simply because PVP is a much better place when you’re there.
Which one of these do I fall in? The 10% you spoke of? I am one of the more vocal ones there, but I do not thrive on the drama - in fact I hate it. I do care about poker, but posting about life’s general happenings interests me as well. That’s why there’s a “PVP babble” section, no? Are you saying that you only want poker related topics?
I think everyone wishes they could do something over. You’re not alone in this regard. Everyone wishes they could take back something they said, something they did, something they didn’t do.
Now, as for the CR drama - I’m in total agreement with you. It’s pathetic. Drama over play chips. How freakin’ childish can you get?!? What gets to me even more is that very few people see what the issue is. All they do is say “weeeee” and “it’s good to be home.” Well I think that’s a crock. This new free site has been around for about what, three weeks now? And look at all the trouble it’s caused already. All that nonsense over some pretty blue software and custom avatars. At just about every other poker site, you can UPLOAD YOUR OWN AVATAR! THIS MAKES IT TOTALLY UP TO YOU AND YOU CAN MAKE IT LOOK LIKE ANYTHING YOU CHOOSE TO UPLOAD!! HELLLLOOOO!!!! GET IT?
Nah, that makes too much sense. Instead, let’s use a forum that we hardly ever frequent or post or contribute to in any way, shape or form to try and get a custom poker face that was owed over two years ago. Yeah…..that’s a good course of action right there…..

And no, I wasn’t including you as one that thrives on the drama.
It’s perfectly ok to me to have a community where people can be themselves, talk about their lives, etc. But when a poker forum becomes entirely centered around community and has nearly nothing to do with poker, it’s out of hand. It’s NOT the reason for the forum - the reason is to discuss poker, and that’s not happening.
As far as the CR drama - some people are too immersed in it to see that it’s turning the other 90% off and away. Absolutely ridiculous to have over 70 posts in just one topic about it. I mean… WTF MAN???

I have no clue what most of this is about and truthfully I’m soooooooo flipping giddy my IMac came back to life after 6 months of death that I’m not sure I want to know. My high is too high to kill.
